Reflection

Dear friends,

We are all shaken by the terrible accident in Florida this week.  I offer these words.

The Common Worship Pastoral Companion offers these prayers:

Lord, we pray for those who mourn,

For parents and children,

For friends and neighbors.

Be gentle with them in their grief.

Show them the depth of your love,

a glimpse of the kingdom of heaven.

Spare them the torment of guilt and despair.

Be with them as they weep beside the empty tomb

of our risen Saviour.

Amen.

Most merciful God,

whose wisdom is beyond our understanding,

surround the families of the children who have died or been injured,

that they may not be overwhelmed by their loss,

but have confidence in your love,

and strength to meet the days to come.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

The Jewish Prayer of Mercy is:

God, full of mercy, Who dwells above, give rest on the wings of the Divine Presence, amongst the holy, pure and glorious who shine like the sky, to the soul of her in whose memory we pray. Therefore, the Merciful One will protect her soul forever, and will merge her soul with eternal life. The Everlasting is her heritage, and she shall rest peacefully at her lying place, and let us say: Amen.

In this time of tragedy in our community, there is little more to say, and much more to pray.

Nancy, CJ and Julia are available to meet with any of you that are affected by the tragic accident in Florida this week.

Blessings,

CJ+
