From Bishop Whitworth

Bishop Diocesan, The Rt. Rev. Julia Whitworth
Bishop Diocesan, The Rt. Rev. Julia Whitworth

Dear friends,

A few weeks ago we received the official portrait of our new Bishop Diocesan, The Rt. Rev. Julia Whitworth. You may view the portrait on the wall directly across from the parish office. All Episcopal Churches are led by the authority of their diocesan bishop, and the portrait is a reminder that we serve God together, as one Body in Christ, along with Bishop Julia and all the other churches in our diocese.

For her portrait, Bishop Whitworth was photographed in front of a wooden statue at Emmanuel Church, Boston of Bishop Barbara Harris, who was  the first woman to be elected to the position of bishop not only in the Episcopal Church, but in all of the Anglican Communion. Bishop Harris served as suffragan bishop in the Diocese of Massachusetts for 13 years. She went onto greater glory in 2020. We are blessed by her legacy in this diocese as we welcome and support the leadership of our new Bishop Julia Whitworth.

Your sister in Christ,
